I just want to give a quick update from the board of directors on what has been happening at CSIA over the last 3 or 4 months. It is hard to believe that the CSIA Executive Conference is right around the corner, and all indications are that it will be a record breaker in San Francisco. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to get registered quickly - We really are just a few weeks away!

First of all, 2017 proved to be a strong financial year, contributing to the continued rebuilding of our nest egg so that we can make future investments back into CSIA. We had a member retention rate of 87% this past year and a growth in Certified Integrators of 5.8%, which was great to see. The investment in the development of the Industrial Automation Exchange is now paying off as well, as we exceeded its budgeted revenue by $2,500 while keeping our direct costs very close to budget. Tony continues to do a great job of promoting participation on the Exchange, as well as helping our members utilize their profiles to their advantage. The amount of content on Exchange continues to boost our Google Search rating, and we are quickly becoming the place to go for all things related to Systems Integration.

Luigi, Jose, Lynda and I, along with staff, met face to face in Madison in February to review the plans for the Executive Conference in San Francisco, as well as to work on our growth strategy for fiscal year 2018 and beyond. Jose did a great job preparing ahead of the meeting with research on potential methods to grow, and we had some good dialog around how we can energize overall growth. Jose will be presenting on this at the Conference. It was great to work with the team face to face, and to spend some time with each other outside of work, as well.

One last thing I wanted to make the membership aware of is that I have nominated Luigi De Bernardini, our current Treasurer, to the role of Vice Chairman. The board of directors has also approved this nomination, so this year, Luigi will continue to serve as treasurer and will also be mentored to take over the helm as CSIA Chairman of the Board at the 2019 Executive Conference. I look forward to mentoring Luigi this next year and preparing him for his upcoming role. If you see Luigi at the conference this year, please congratulate him!

I hope to see you all very soon at our keystone event, the 2018 Executive Conference. If you have yet to attend one, you really don’t know what you are missing! I have built new relationships every year and look forward to doing so again this year. The program promises to be one you will not want to miss. Until then, I hope you all are having a great year!
