The Certified Mission Critical Professional (CMCP)

When:  Sep 30, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 (CT)
“There is a growing skills gap in mission critical sectors. The existing workforce is reaching retirement age and is taking a lot of their knowledge and experience with them, and take up is declining in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects. Engineering and technician roles are often seen as dirty and undesirable with limited prospects for career development. In addition, technology advances make it difficult for workers to keep pace with the skills and knowledge that they need in their roles.

Much of the foundational skills required for mission critical operations, such as risk assessment and operations management have evolved over decades and the knowledge has been passed on through “on the job training”. This approach, without any means to formally quantify the knowledge transfer, creates inconsistent and non-repeatable results, and the potential to dilute the knowledge each time it is passed on.

At the same time as the skills gap is growing, safety along with protecting mission critical IT/OT systems against cyber threat is of ever increasing importance. Many organizations overlook protecting their OT systems against potential yet very real cyber risk.

The Certified Mission Critical Professional program helps to bridge the skills gap and improve on the “on the job training” approach, with a significant focus on safety and cybersecurity. CMCP provides employers with certified competent individuals who can help positively contribute to the company’s reputation and performance.”
