Presented by Tom Sulda, Managing Director, Astal and CSIA Certification auditor
Agile, used extensively in the IT industry, may offer valuable techniques for system integrators, as well. For example, does your "non-technical" customer hesitate to sign off on a functional requirements document because they don’t understand or relate to it? Agile could help. Please join us for an overview of useful Agile techniques that could be used to build stronger alignment with your customers’ needs.

presented by Kai Wang, Nexcom
Based on Industry 4.0 concept, this webinar presents a practical case study to upgrade factory automation without replacing existing PLCs and machine controllers. Factory machines and equipment are connected to upload field data to back-end ERPs or cloud, facilitating data acquisition and connections among machines and devices on factory floor to the cloud networks wirelessly. Using Industrial IoT Gateway and IoT Studio web-based configuration tool, you will also learn how to pre-configure a factory wide-scale deployment using a simple innovative, intuitive drag and drop software tool without any tedious programming that is traditionally done by very experienced program developers.

Presented by Phoenix Contact
With the growing influence of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), many customers are pushing to have integrated safety on their main controllers. This push to automating safety can leave many OEMs and Integrators scrambling to figure out the requirements for such a system and how they need to adapt their designs and personnel to be in line with the rapidly changing market. In this webinar, we'll discuss the types of distributed safety networks available, how distributed safety works and answer the following questions:
1. How can you add Safety to an automation network?
2. What are the benefits of integrating safety?
3. Does distributed safety automatically mean drastically increased costs?

Ken Austin, Lead Product Marketing Specialist for I/O and networks
Information is important in keeping critical processes and operations running smoothly. And network outages, however minor, can prove rather costly. This is a driving force behind the installation of managed Ethernet switches and the deployment of a network redundancy solution  The Device Level Ring (DLR) redundancy mechanism realizes recovery times of less than three milliseconds in the event of a network failure and is heavily promoted for EtherNet/IP applications. DLR ensures nearly bump-less switch-over times and is supported by many current two-port EtherNet/IP field devices, which can be networked in a ring topology using DLR. Additionally, in many non-EtherNet/IP  topologies, such as networking wind turbines, a redundancy mechanism is required to enable switching over as fast as possible in the event of an error. The DLR redundancy mechanism provides that needed speed. Learn more about DLR redundancy, and how it can help you and your clients.

Jeff Miller, Director of Project Management, Interstates Control Systems
Jeff Miller will walk participants through the key areas of Section 6 of the CSIA Best Practices and Benchmarks: processes of the System Development Lifecycle. This particular section deserves early and focused attention when working to implement best practices into your systems. Invest time developing effective and efficient internal systems now, and you’ll see high returns on investment (for you) and increased value (for your clients), later. Jeff will walk you through key elements that he finds add the most value when preparing for the CSIA certification audit. This webinar is the fifth in a series to promote and provide training around CSIA Best Practices.

Becca Johnson, Operational Excellence Manager, Concept Systems
Quality assurance has been known as a reactive, required mechanism meant to point out the flaws in a project or process after a problem has been found. Join us as we discuss a paradigm shift in thinking about quality assurance.  By incorporating lean tools that align with CSIA Best Practices into our quality assurance processes, we strive for operational excellence. Companies gain the advantage of not only creating a culture of accountability, but also significantly reducing the risk of production and profit loss.
